Isn't life all about solutions? Albeit that the only time we concern ourselves with finding solutions to things is when they appear to affect and infect our lives in some way. Well, eye'm no different than anyone else. Let me explain my unusual way of using words and spellings, so that you don't think they're typos or think that I (eye) just can't spell. To me the very word 'solution' sounds like our 'Soul' is trying to 'Show Us' something. Just like the word 'I' really sounds like the word 'Eye.' It is recorded that the ancient Egiptians (now we get into etymologies because Eye'm not using the letter 'y' but if someone asks me why--then EYE will explain) used the symbol eye BEEcause the EYES are the windows to the Soul. However, then we are reminded that nothing is as it appears. Anyway, what we're talking about and or dealing with is OUR perceptions of the things that we think we see.
In order to fully have a clear understanding of just what Oppression is besides experiencing it as an Afrikan born in Amerika, one of my Academic Professors: Dr. Mark Imhotep Cray, M.D. assigned a book for students of his to read: Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire
Then in addition to that we were assigned the task of watching in sequences the presentation of it by Professor Jason Campbell. After reading the book and watching all of those valuable hours of Prof. Jason Campbell's presentations, my eyes were fully opened to the many other levels of why there is so much oppression going on in the world. There's even a methodology and theory why there are so many charity organizations. Well, eye remember that scripture teaches that the poor we will have with us always. So the question (s) remain. How do we go about successfully giving hand ups and not just always hand outs?
If the hand is out, there is a person at the other end of it in need of HELP. How much help is too much help, some people ask.
When should we stop helping those persons at the other end of those outstretched hands? When we as a humanity of people help them to regain their sense of dignity, self reliance and a way in which to fully sustain themselves economically, then we can move on to the next group of outstretched hands. When we free ourselves from the well orchestrated organizations working behind the scenes to keep people oppressed then we must teach them how to be free as well. Liberation is about liberating even the oppressors. Truly, even the oppressor is oppressed. Paulo Freire's theory is that the oppressor is oppressed because they are enslaved to always formulating the strategies will keep the oppressed, oppressed.
Eye care about many things. Eye am deeply concerned about what our oppressors states of mind continues to do to our plan-et. Eye am a person (female of course) with not just one major concern. Yet, if eye have to start somewhere, eye want to start with the keepers of life--Girls and Women. The statistics of abuse against Girls and Women worldwide continues to soar at an alarming rate. Yes, eye do mean in Amerika as well.
Some countries outlaw the education of girls and women, forcing them to be no-class citizens for life. I think gender education has its place, yet it is a fact that All must and deserve to be Educated. Making education accessible to all forces the oppressors to control what the oppressed is taught.
One of my aspirations is to help girls and women worldwide with what eye do.
How?
Well, eye will most definitely continue to give to organizations that invest in educating girls and women worldwide. Secondly, eye plan to start an organization or company of my own specifically designed to help heal our sisters together.
